The set of National Training Workshops performed in the framework of Project 46 - WP5 “Risk assessment, transport and management of hazardous biological waste” has ended last week.

The Workshops had the purpose of improving knowledge and raising awareness on the field of biowaste management in several South-East Asia countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, Myanmar, Philippines and Cambodia. Each National Training Workshop involved around 30 participants between laboratory workers, waste handlers and representatives of national authorities in charge of biowaste management guidelines and regulations. It was an enriching and productive experience, also due to the active involvement of all the participants.

The second, held in Vientiane on June 28th – 29th, will be the WP4 Final Workshop. The attendees will have the opportunity to analyze the results of the assessment made under WP4 as well and discuss the enhancement of biorisk management procedures in South-East Asia countries.
