Between the 5th and 8th April 2016, implementers from EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Project 46 visited Hanoi, to carry out an initial fact-finding mission.

This enabled experts from the project to meet with key personnel, including the Vietnam CBRN CoE National Focal Point (NFP), Dr. Vuong Huu Tan, and some members of the Vietnam CBRN National Team, as well as to visit key CBRN facilities within Vietnam, such the Technical Support Centre (TSO) for Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Emergency Response, at VARANS (the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety); the Vietnam Department for Fire Prevention and Protection and Emergency Rescue; the Vietnam Search and Rescue Committee (VINASARCOM); and the Vietnam Chemical Protection Agency (VINACHEMIA). In addition, further agencies have host the Project Team, for instance, the General Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health), the National Lung Hospital (NLH), the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE), the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases (NHTD), the National Centre for Veterinary Diagnostics, Department of Animal Health.

The mission, organised in conjunction with the CBRN CoE National Focal Point (NFP), Dr. Vuong Huu Tan, was very successful, enabling the Project Team to meet with key CBRN personnel within Vietnam and visit a number of facilities and institutions to enable them to understand how the project can be implemented to the maximum benefit of the country.
