Between the 7th and 9th March 2016, implementers from EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Project 46 visited Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon, to carry out an initial fact-finding mission

In Nay Pyi Taw, project experts met with the Myanmar CBRN National Team and a number of key agencies to discuss the implementation of the project, while in Yangon project experts visited a number of key facilities, such as the Yangon Region Hluttaw Police Building and a number of laboratories.

The mission, which was coordinated by the CBRN National Focal Point for Myanmar, Dr. Khin Maung Latt, was very successful, enabling the project team to agree on a number of priority areas on which the project’s three components will focus as the project is implemented in the country. The relatively new development of CBRN Capability in Myanmar presents Project 46 with an excellent opportunity to work with the relevant agencies from a ‘blank page’ to build capability. This approach will ensure that Myanmar gains the maximum possible benefit from its inclusion in Project 46.
